PARIS POP-UP Session with Paola Bjäringer

  • Collectible Interiors & Design 2 Impasse de Conti Paris, IDF, 75006 France (map)

On Friday the 27th of March we are delighted to invite you to our second POP-UP session. This time in Paris and with the Franco-Swedish gallerist, design consultant and collector Paola Bjäringer. Paola will open up her amazing gallery-apartment between Pont Neuf and the Pont des Arts for us and we will have a chat about her work, and about the field of "design-art".

Could you think of a better way to start off a Friday? We can't.

Paola Bjäringer discovered the field of design when writing master thesis within sociology at the London School of Economics. She was fascinated by the relationships between gender and objects, and decided to choose the signification and symbolism of women’s sex toys around the world as her research focus. Her work would lead her to discover that the objects she was studying, although quintessentially intimate and feminine, were mostly designed by men. In light of this paradox, Paola decided to produce a series of sex toys designed by and for women. Together with the renowned French designer Matali Crasset she developed the first “lovetoy” of her collection. This collection inspired Paola to engage in a broader examination of objects and human relationships in our contemporary societies. These reflections became a book bringing together works by a group of designers which was entitled Love Design. This led to a series of exhibitions in several European capitals on the social role of design.

Since then, Paola have opened up her own gallery (Slott gallery), worked as a collector, publisher and curator. Today, Paola works with limited edition furniture and design series, interior decoration and architecture, and with discovering new talented designers in her magnificent 160 m2 showroom-apartment nestled between the Pont Neuf and the Pont des Arts next to the Seine.

I'm most definitely coming!
